MC-57883The barrier blocks particles for being broken are purple and black checkered.
Before in snapshot 14w24b when you broke a barrier block particles as if you were breaking a redstone block appeared. Now there isn't a texture anymore, just purple and black checkered texture.

Confirmed. Although the missing texture for the barrier block was fixed, the particle texture is still missing.
Same for the end portal after fixing this
MC-48089This still happens in 14w26c... Reopen it!
I can't reproduce, it's generating the red particles of the symbol.
Cannot reproduce too in 14w26c
