What error message did it give you?
"The entity UUID provided is in an invalid format"
Mobs aren't able to run the command?
I've tested this and I cannot reproduce your error. Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report (minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt) here.
Er... Yesterday, it wasn't working, but now, it works... Weird...
I suspect you either has a typo (visible or otherwise), else you were connected to a server that runs older versions of the game.
