Hey Mojang.
I’ve now gone through reddit and this defect database. It seems that there are big problems with protecting either save data or the character progress of your users. As I’ve been working with software testing for 20 years, it seems to me that there are several different root causes to your data loss problems.... And this causes a lot of frustration online and can cause a lot of confusion in development too.
Here is an idea: Is there a way to implement a feature that would make automatic backups and archive them of both game progress and all character data? With this kind of automatic backup archive it would be possible to give users a way to recover their precious progress without overwhelming your support and development.
After getting this kind of a feature up and running, it would give you more space and time to actually start finding and fixing the root causes of data loss.
I really love your game, but at the moment it’s hard to be committed as the progress may disappear any time....
