Minecraft Launcher fails to start after update
Since the Minecraft Launcher updated itself to ver. 1.0.1.0 it will not start. Attempting to launch it causes an Application log Error Event ID 1000 (Application Error) and and Application log Information Event ID 1001 (Windows Error Reporting) to be logged.

I have reinstalled Minecraft with the same results.
I deleted my .minecraft folder and reinstalled the Launcher which now works.
