My game crashed and when I went to restart it the entire launcher and game log were greyed out and I couldn't use them without closing it out and reopening it.

Can you please share a screenshot of the issue, or even video?
Can you please upload launcher_log file from .minecraft folder?
Also uninstall the Launcher, delete .minecraft folder (copy its content elsewhere before deletion) and then reinstall, restart your computer. Then please try to boot the Launcher.
This ticket will automatically reopen when you reply.
When I tried to upload the launcher log, the bug tracker gave this error:
File "launcher_log.txt" was not uploaded
An internal error has occurred. Please contact your administrator.
