What I expected to happen
When I start up the launcher, it was going to open up and I could start playing.
What actually happened
When I started up the launcher, a window popped up stating; "Unable to download Minecraft. Please try again later."
Steps to reproduce
1. Go to minecraft.net and download minecraft.msi or minecraft.exe
2.open the MinecraftInstaller on minecraft.exe, finish the setup wizard if you have the MincraftInstaller
3. Open the launcher up
4. a window should pop up say "Unable to download Minecraft. Please try again later"

Operating System: Windows 8.1
Java: Version 8 Update 45 (build 1.8.0_45-b15)

Please retry, the certificate issue should be fixed now.
I am having the same issue and changing the date now makes it impossible to even load the launcher
I corrected the date and did a new download after deleting all Minecraft files, after download I changed the date to July 1 then opened launcher and NO GAME
The issue was fixed shortly before you posted that comment.
Please try changing your time back to the correct time.
I'm having this error as well.. I don't think it was fixed.
Ticket resolved as incomplete, because no answer in a reasonable amount of time (1+ year), if it still happens, please update the ticket.
