My volume is muted after I downloaded the new launcher.
When using the new launcher my volume setting is place at 65 percent but is
mute. It seems to be doing this randomly. I relaunch and quit multiple times and eventually the volume works.

I find that about half the time I use the launcher it starts up with the volume off. I re-start several times and switch accounts several times before it is corrected. Not sure what info to give Mojang to help resolve this as it doesnt crash so no crash reports and no error messages.

MC-9974, There is no indication of failure of any kind. The volume setting under options is at a normal level. But there is no sound. Takes several restarts to clear issue. Updated Java to newest release and no help. The sound issue seems to only have started when I installed the new launched. I deleted the old one as I chose the complete new install option.I am still experiencing this problem. Start Launcher and it comes up without sound. Only way to fix it is by re-launching many times.
Issue still exists. No error messages. One time it took 8 or 9 re-starts to get sound to work. Unfortunately I did the delete and replace option when I installed the new launcher.(the other option kept failing) I can't seem to find a place on the Mojang website that provides a download of the old launcher.
Just took five attempts this time.
This is the MC output logs. It did have 2 errors on it
took 9 attempts to log on with sound. saw no difference in logs between the muted attempts and the successful one.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft Launcher version 2.0.1003 / 2.0.1004? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.
Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. It will be reopened it as soon as the requested information has been delivered.
