I wanted to join a friend or a server and then it showed that I now need Playstation Plus, but it wasn't like this before.

And don't say that this is a feature.
This could be a Sony problem. Sony initially declined cross-platform play when Microsoft asked. So it would not suprise me if they started having crossplay as a PS+ feature.
