villagers do not farm any crops. To recreate, enter any village, destroy a few crops and observe.
Also, they do not pick up any items, such as seeds, bread, wheat etc. Though, im unsure as to whether or not this has actually been implemented as a game mechanic.

@Vincent watson Have you updated to 1.0.0.0 yet?
Because I have done some testing and have seen villagers farm/pick up food in 1.0.0.0 (beta build 3)
In the beta testing they were broken they are fine now. The farmers harvest the crops again. But they leave the village.
