mobs despawn or spawn at sea lanterns (while player is 20-30 blocks away)
This one keeps developing...
The summary as I understand now is that spawning and despawning is not working in chunks designated as Ocean monuments (after the blocks have been removed).
Currently I'm finding that mobs are spawning within sea lanterns during the day. I installed Soul sand under the lanterns which immobilises them. If I hit them with a sword, they still can't move but only then do they start burning in sunlight, still half in the sea lantern. If a bow with power is used, it moves them off the soul sand and they can walk around, burning.
I attech two new pictures of mobs who've just spawned).
So I am reporting mobs spawning randomly where they shouldn't, and also despawning as per originalreport below.
It must be the Ocean Monument!
Original report follows.
I am building a guardian farm and originally reported seeing guardians despawn. I've since seen a creeper also disappear at the same place. It seems to be that when a mob walks into a sea lantern and tries to climb it, it despawns (it could be prismarine brick, which is next to the sea lantern).
The pictures show one location where it happened with guardians swimming against the sea lantern but now I've removed the water, a creeper vanished in the same way in a different corner that is identical in components in my symmetrical structure.
I'll remove the lanterns and see if it persists, and update.
Created Issue:
guardians despawn while player is 20-30 blocks away
I am in the middle of building a guardian farm. Though it's not yet spawning many (deliberately) it is spawning a few when I move to a particular location.
Guardians spawn and swim around in the flowing water for a few minutes and reliably despawn after an unpredictable number of minutes (around 5-10). They are in no way far off, I have actually seen it happen. They may be swimming into blocks as the ones I've seen vanish do so when swimming to go back up a drop of a single block – ie swimming hard against a solid block in water flowing away from that block.

These show the distance and the kinds of spots they vanish in.
Interesting addition: I'm pretty sure a creeper disappeared in one of the corners (with a sea lantern in it) in the picture so it's not just guardians (I've since removed the water). Will adjust description and title accordingly.
Is this still an issue in 1.0.4.11?
Update. Still seems to happen in 1.0.5 (iOS)
Though they don't get trapped in the same way, I am still seeing mobs (mainly zombies) spawn in areas well-lit exclusively by sea lanterns (but with sunligth blocked) during daytime. This is with solid lines of sea-lanterns in passageways only four across.
But areas lit by sea-lanterns that are not continuous don't seem to have it happening. I've only seen it in continuous lines of them. Will keep exploring this (but just lost all the villagers in a large complex because of this argh)
Update: see attachment 2017-04-01 18.10.21.
They wander free, it seems, but spawn in the sea lanterns irrespective of light (note it is daytime and the skeleton should be burning)
[Said earlier -- I can't reproduce now. Have done a decent but not exhaustive testing.]
Still occurring in 1.06! They will spawn even if the block above is glass – ie there is theoretically no air.
