What do you mean "the gravity won't work"? Are people floating in midair? Or are people able to fly?
Stuff isn't falling because you're disconnected, so you aren't placing blocks on the server so they aren't falling on the server. Also, invalid, of course the server won't work if you aren't connected to it.
Cleaning up all the old issues - please reply if this affects 0.9.3.
