My wife just tried to turn her coordinates on and did NOT want the cheats on but they got turned on anyway upon doing so. As far as I could tell from my own tests, you have to turn cheats on to enable coordinates but this was fixed so you no longer have to enable cheats to use coordinates so what gives?

Did you try to turn on coordinates while playing the game or did you try to turn it on in the game settings?
Currently, you can only turn coordinates on without turning on cheats through the game settings, if you want to toggle the setting while playing the game, you will have to turn on cheats.
Forgive me for being so blunt but in the previous update Mojang had promised we would never have to worry about turning the cheats on again just to use the coordinates and we were enjoying that ability.... now you're going to take that away again?! I remember the "update screen" very well and it DID say "you never have to turn cheats on again to use the coordinates"! Is Mojang going back on that now? That is not fair! If you promise something to someone and actually give it to them do not be an "Indian Giver" and take it back! That's not right!
Please restore this functionality so again, we do NOT have to turn cheats on just so we can use coordinates! For once, I did not have to have my wife on my back complaining that she has to use cheats just so she can use coordinates for mining purposes as she used them so as not to get lost while mining in a large cave or one that was too far from her residence so that she could get back home. It was really nice and now I have her on my back again because the same issue EVERYONE including myself is complaining about, Mojang has reinstated! Why?!
Again, please restore the ability to use the coordinates WITHOUT having to use the cheats to do it! I don't like having my wife tap dancing on my head because she can't receive achievements as a result of having to turn the cheats just so she can use the coordinates! Coordinates are used for EVERYTHING in Minecraft INCLUDING navigation so why in the halibut would you put it under "cheats" as a "cheat" when this is NOT the case? Seriously?! Really?! Please fix this!
You should be able to enable show coordinates without cheats in the world settings.
This functionality has not been implemented yet while the world is running / ingame.

Can you verify this functionality to be working? If not can you be more specific where and when the issue occurs?

Yes thank you. Your work around does work now. My wife just tested it on a brand new world and has verified that the coordinates have been enabled WITHOUT the cheats enabling as well. I'll have this also tested on a current world that has no cheats to make sure it works as intended.
My wife's issue may have been solved because she hasn't bothered me since about it but now I seem to have a problem with the coordinates; I don't know what to do about it though but think it is in fact a bug...
When I try to enter or use commands (ie. command blocks) that use coordinates they go all funky! The coordinates on the screen don't seem to match up with those that the commands use and as such mess with my commands. Could THIS issue be in some way related to the issue that I have already reported? My build is barely half finished because the coordinates are all screwed up and don't want to work either accurately or efficiently enough to make the coordinates useable for commands!
To remove confusion however, I DID make a seperate report on the afforementioned issue regarding the use of command blocks using said commands but just don't know how to get back to it.
Resolved as works as intended with the feature is working as designed but should probably be changed as it can get confusing.
