And seriously, the game should save your inventory, and replace it with the creative inventory default. Upon switching back to survival, you would receive all of your items back.
Confirmed for 0.11.0 and 0.11.1 on iPhone 6 plus (iOS 8.3).
Is this really a bug? I mean, in PC it doesn't erase your armor when you switch to creative mode, nor does it erase your armor on Console edition. Yay! Now I have to take off my armor as well as empty my inventory when I switch to creative!
