Sky color is incorrect during a thunderstorm
This has been a long term bug in multiplayer. Now that single player is technically a server now it happens there as well. Looking at the picture, you have on the left half a normal rainy day without thunder. In the old single player mode the sky would get darker as indicated in the right half of the picture. Thunderstorms no longer make the sky look like this. Not sure if this is an actual bug or if it's intended to look like normal rain weather now.
What I expected to happen was...:
When a thunderstorm occurs, the sky would usually get as dark as the right half of the picture. What actually happened was...:
Thunderstorms don't change the sky from left to right making it difficult to determine if it's a thunderstorm or not whenever it starts to rain. The sky just stays on the lighter half of the picture.Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go into any world whether it's in single player or multiplayer.
2. Turn on thunder using new weather commands.
3. Turn off thunder and just leave rain on for comparison.
4. Sky remains the same rather than transitioning between the two.

EDIT: I guess this is indeed a bug since if it "Works as intended" it wouldn't still be open...What I expected to happen was...:

Thunderstorms don't change the sky from left to right making it difficult to determine if it's a thunderstorm or not whenever it starts to rain. The sky just stays on the lighter half of the picture. Being that mobs spawn during a thunderstorm, it would be nice to know the difference between the two so that players don't have to play guessing games if mobs are lurking outside or not. I know I'm not the only one who finds this annoying...Steps to Reproduce:

If you create any flat world using the sky biome (9), the sky and ocean will appear black as pictured below. I noticed that the fog color matches the abandoned sky dimension template. Any possibly of getting the sky and ocean to match the template again? Hopefully an easy fix? It would give players and plugin makers the opportunity to create their own sky dimension again.
A big thanks if you can!
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new world
2. World type is Flat
3. Customize using this preset: 2;7,2x3,2;9;village
4. Generate map

I wasn't mixing up biomes. I know the difference between the two. Just saying that this was probably the biome data that the beta sky dimension used before it was replaced by the end which uses a different sky graphic by the way. The nether is quite dark but that doesn't seem to affect the sky in the overworld. Bottom line is I was just wondering if changing the dark sky in the overworld would affect the End since the skies use different graphics. That's all...
Yeah, I didn't notice until now that you mention it. I can confirm this although I can't confirm it OFFICIALLY... Thunderstorms suck even more now...
I found a good way to trigger this glitch is to idle for a couple of minutes in the same spot and once all the chunks closeby load, then proceed to walk in one direction where I'm 95% certain you will see a line of missing chunks. Oh and have VSync On.
Can someone AT LEAST confirm please? Is this being removed from the game or will it eventually be fixed? I know 99% of you don't give a crap but come on now, four months and no confirmation? >.>
Ok, sorry to sound like a noob. I didn't know "Community Consensus" also meant "Confirmed". I'm curious though, what's the difference between the two anyway?
That was an accident. Sorry I meant to click the snapshot next to it. Although, I'm sure it will still be in that future version anyway come think about it... >.>
I know right? It's been a bug since Beta 1.5 when weather was first introduced.
Confirmed for 1.6.2
Seems like the terrain used to go darker too. Even though the daylight sensors detect the drop in light level, visually it's the same exact brightness in rain vs thunderstorm.
YAY!! Thanks so much for fixing. No more setting up thunderstorm detectors.
