Same problem, would love for this issue to be re-opened and investigated further.
Possible fix - worked for me anyways. I simply disabled my anti-virus program (I use Kaspersky Internet Security 14), opened launcher, hit play, hey presto. Reactivated anti virus later, and still worked alongside it. Good luck to you.
