Couldn't unpack natives!
There is nothing for us to work on. If your local settings somehow prevent the game from installing there is very little we can do programmatically.
You might have started it with the wrong permissions before (like Administrator) and now the files refuse to be updated because of permission-issues.
You might have an overly protective antivirus/firewall/similar 'protection' thing that needs to be turned off (and sometimes even completely uninstalled) for it to work.
On any 'basic' system the launcher works, if people somehow break their own system, or their access to it there is nothing the launcher can do beyond saying as much as it knows (which is what it does. In the case of the initial ticket here, the downloaded zip is broken, as we check every file after downloading, this is either some overprotective 'thing', a broken harddisk (bad sector for example) or an inability to update the file because of permissions etc etc.
For technical support please use the Mojang Support Center.

My (first) bug report was set to duplicate to MCL-130 (as many others). But MCL-130 is in status "Resolved" although no solution exists. There was a comment in MCL-130 from someone to disable the Virus-Program while installing MC; but this definitly does not lead to success for me (Avira).
Could Mojang please confirm that this problem is being re-open and being worked on? I have no working version of MC at all at this moment

OK. Dupe of MCL-130, actually.

Can you copy the full log from the console of the new launcher?
Delete your: C:\Users\jbrac_000\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\libraries folder and restart the launcher.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft / Launcher version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
No answer, assuming no longer an issue.
Same problem, would love for this issue to be re-opened and investigated further.
I too am having this problem. Be wonderful if it could be re-opened and looked into.
Possible fix - worked for me anyways. I simply disabled my anti-virus program (I use Kaspersky Internet Security 14), opened launcher, hit play, hey presto. Reactivated anti virus later, and still worked alongside it.
Good luck to you.

Same for me. Purchased this yesterday, and cant get it to work. Tried all the above (i.e. deleting .minecraft\libraries folder - but it was a new install, so didn't expect this to work. No virus program)
Is it being worked on?

Its a brand new install. Its nothing to do with permissions - its a fairly basic system. There are no antivirus/firewalls in place. I haven't broken my system, its never worked.
If you wont do anything to help me get this working, can I have my money back?

I just tried to submit this error - MCL 1962 - again because simply marking it as a duplicate to an error that has been marked resolved but clearly is NOT is not functional. There seems to be an increase in the report of this error in the last few days - either a launcher 1.3.7 issue or a game 1.7.4 issue. Too many of us have either had the error with absolutely clean installs, or without anti-virus programs activated and without any permissions issues for this to be solely on our end. Or, even if it is, is seems widespread enough and disabling enough that it would be in Mojang's best interest to try work with us to figure it out. I will be calling and getting a refund. Thanks. Jim.
I was playing Minecraft when I felt like installing a mod (terrafirmacraft). As tutorials suggested, I made a backup and deleted the .Minecraft folder. Then, I started the launcher, tried to start the game in vanilla, and this problem occurred. No versions work, and none of my backups will load either. I've been searching for an hour now with no working solutions to be found. For now, I have no way of playing Minecraft, and would love for this to be figured out.
Having the exact same issue, on three computers. All of them were running Vanilla Minecraft 1.7.2 with no problems at all. As soon as the 1.7.4 update came out, I got this error on all three. Have disabled firewall and anti-virus (Security Essentials), and have removed the libraries folder, but have not had any luck.
Nothing has changed on these systems - no permission changes were made, no changes to antivirus, the JVM version hadn't even changed when the issue began (although it is updated now and sadly, that has not helped.) The update itself seems to be causing the issue.
Hey guys, try moving your launcher executable to a different folder. This fixed it on two of my machines (haven't tested the third.) I have no idea why I can't launch it from the desktop anymore, even though I've been doing so for years. But, in the short run, this worked for me. Hope this helps!
In having the same problems, how the frick do i fix it?
Thx i got it fixed =)

After three weeks research I gave up: The only way for my computer to get this fixed (
MCL-1941) was to re-install Windows 7 Ulimate completely from scratch. Some of the downloaded components were changed by whatever mechanism for whatever reason so that a "Hash did not match downloaded file" message as shown multiple times in the attached log of
MCL-1941appeared; finally leading to the famous "Could not unpack natives".The explanation I found via google that might come closest to source of the actual problem behind that issue is that some program piece suspects some sound and/or picture files as malware and replaces them with some other arbitrary stuff leading to that "Hash did not match..." message. But although after deleting a couple of these "helpful" programms like "Avira ask search toolbar" the hash mismatch was gone; nevertheless minecraft crashed with some ogg file header issue...
will someone help me just fi it ive tried everything! Please!
