I tried the method of fixing this bug found on the second oldest comment of the page this one is a duplicate of, however this did not work. After a few more failed attempts, I believe this problem (at least for me) to be unresolved as of yet. All the fix did was close the launcher. I also sent a similar comment on the original bug.
Hello, I experienced the same problem and reported it, only to get my version marked as a duplicate. However, the fix applied to this one (the second oldest comment) does not work for me. All it does is close the launcher.

I tried to answer the questions you (Zgajak) asked, however when I tried to follow the second one, I found that minecraft.net was asking for the usual way to get minecraft, which was to pay for it. I just wanted to double check if that is the correct way, as although I couldn't really see any other ways, I want to only have to pay the cost of minecraft again as a last resort.
