Once you are attacked by a player, you are forever considered to be 'in a fight' with that player until you do eventually do die due to some cause.
For example, you have died by brushing up against a cactus, but since your friend accidentally hit you with a mallet five minutes earlier, the death message is
"Player X walked into a cactus whilst trying to escape Y."
This is just incorrect, more times than not.Steps to reproduce:
1. Have a friend punch you once. (or a have a mob attack you.)
2. Wait for at least a minute.
3. Jump off a cliff, fall in lava, drown, or just /kill yourself.
4. To the rest of the server, it will appear is if your friend (or that mob) caused your death.
Incorrect death messages after PvP [Resolved]
It seems "block mining" sounds are still in the wrong category. This issue is related to
MC-36360, but it was marked as resolved when part of it still isn't. The bow and other projectile's sounds work just fine, but mining sounds do not when "Friendly Creatures" sounds are set to OFF.
I really, really wish we could close our own bug tickets. I forgot that the render distance unloads chunks in single player (actually, I didn't know that this also applies along the vertical column, as I had the mob grinder above me), it's a new feature meant to reduce lag. Soon after I made the issue I found that they started spawning once I upped the render distance. If there was a feature that would allow me to close my own ticket, I would have only minutes after I submitted it, saving everyone time.
If you drink a speed potion, only your ground speed increases, while your air speed remains the same. Normally, the fastest way to travel is by jumping while sprinting, but if you do this while using a Speed II potion, you will actually move slower. The effect is most pronounced while using higher level speed effects. Try using "/effect @p minecraft:speed 1000000 25" to reproduce.

It appears to be fixed. Awesome.
I'd close this issue but I'm not sure I know how, or if I can.
You don't have to spam the refresh button to see this bug, all you have to do is play multiplayer. Randomly (and it's been happening twice daily) the list will delete itself. This is a pretty big issue, but it doesn't seem to affect everyone. I'd love to see it fixed after putting up with it for the past year.
Confirmed for 1.12.2. This bug is especially problematic, seeing this can cause false accusations of cheating.
Can confirm for vanilla 1.12.2.
Confirmed for 1.12.2 and 18w03b. Horse runs off in one direction almost every time I dismount it. Annoying for travel since you always have to chase your horse back down.
