I was in the Nether and I placed a torch on top of some gravel and all the gravel around me fell out from underneath me. It was probably a group of floating gravel that spawned, but is it supposed to fall if a torch is placed on it? I placed the torch on the side of the block facing West if any of that makes any difference. I'm sorry I didn't get any picture evidence and I'm hesitant to attempt to do this again because I think floating gravel is kind of uncommon and I don't want to die again.
EDIT: I tested this on creative mode. Any block will cause this to happen.
To recreate:
Find floating gravel.
Place anything onto the floating gravel or above it via the wall. (It just has to be in the space above the gravel.
The gravel and all surrounding gravel will fall.
Okay, but is a snapshot different than the 1.8.8 I already play, and if it is, how do I find it/play it?
Gianna Anania, if you can, please test in the latest snapshot, and if you're still experiencing a problem, please create a new issue. A lot of these old bug reports about maps were marked "Won't Fix" because the functionality of maps changed and the reports were no longer considered relevant. There's a lot of overlap between the existing reports, and they'd be a lot of work to untangle and find what's still relevant to the current version of Minecraft.

I'm not sure whether to comment here, on
MC-3416, or start a new thread, but I'm still having this problem in Version 1.8.8. A copy map placed in an item frame has green marker when removed and doesn't display current location marker. It goes away when I exit the game and come back, but it's annoying.Since I'm new and not sure were my comment belongs, I'll copy my comment from
MC-73here: I'm still having this problem in Version 1.8.8. A copy map placed in an item frame has green marker when removed and doesn't display current location marker. It usually happens casting downwards.
oh okay thanks. I guess I'll have to be more careful then.
It definitely happens in 1.8.8. My map found itself on the second floor of my house, and it was on the first floor in the item frame, not even against the ceiling.
I have this issue also. At first I didn't realize that it was a problem with older worlds running on 1.8, but I've come to realize that this is the case with my world as well. Slimes spawn as normal at night in Swamp, but no slimes spawning below level 40 in areas that should be slime chunks.
This happens to me with my cave spider exp farm in 1.8.8
Happens in 1.8.8
Still present in 1.10.2
A map placed in an item frame and then duplicated no longer shows the player location marker on the map. It only shows the green marker.
That's what I thought a year ago, but everyone was being directed here. Should I make a new post? Or is there somewhere I should be redirected to?
I haven't been able to thus far.
