This bug has happened so many times after the Halloween update. I play multiplayers in offline mode only on Switch.
Two days ago, I noticed the local data is not sync'ed with cloud data and I sync'ed them. (In Manage Software section of Switch)
There are no more freezes in two days. Give it a try~
