For some reason, the new launcher doesn't work for me. It always says "oh no! Something went wrong and we couldn't connect to minecraft services." It then seems to not detect that I bought minecraft, and will only let me launch it as a demo or I have to buy it all over again. The older launcher has no such problem, detects that I own it, etc. As a result, I have to use the old launcher if I want to play the game because the new one doesn't work.
Update: Thought reinstalling might help, but it made things worse. The new minecraft launcher is just an empty dialog box now with no functionality.

i made a "duplicate ticket" apparently, so they added me to this one as well. Minecraft was working for me yesterday, but now I can only play the demo. No idea why, no solution given.
Not sure if this is a duplicate since this is with a newer launcher than that one was originally.
As a temporary fix, for those on windows 10, download and install the windows 7, 8 version of the launcher and use that until windows 10 launcher is fixed. This fixed it for me. Perhaps to also fix it, they should re-identify their current windows 10 launcher as beta test and to roll back to completely working one.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the new launcher and it made things worse. Now the launcher just displays an empty box. No option or anything to press.
I'm wondering if the launcher has an issue with my directory structure (but the old launcher has no problem at the moment) or if there is some security setting that is causing problems. Missing files perhaps? I really have no clue at this point, and I am a computer scientist. Don't think it has anything to do with security after checking some things.
One thing that annoys me about having to use the old launcher is that it does not support getting the bedrock edition it seems. It says incompatible with that version of the launcher. With that in mind, I'm surprised this is taking so long to fix. It's almost like this one isn't being taken seriously.
Which log file do you want? Also, keep in mind that there is probably a log file from the older launcher, the one that works for me for the java edition but is incompatible with the windows 10 minecraft. I can reinstall the new/broken launcher and see if it refreshes if you need me to.
I reinstalled it again and now have the original problem, which I guess is an improvement. Can you just add functionality to the old launcher since that one works? This seems to be a very long lasting problem now. The newer launcher is too picky in who it works for. I can use the old launcher and have full access to my minecraft java edition but not buy or install the windows 10/11 edition, or I can use the updated one which might support the windows 10/11 (since it can't connect to services, it probably won't, hence why I won't buy the windows 10/11 edition). I have tried all kinds of things to try to make it work short of deleting every single file reference to minecraft accross every harddrive I have. If that is the solution, its not a solution. Sorry if I am starting to sound irritable, but this is really a dumb problem to have.
Old launcher works and connects to minecraft services and can run java minecraft. new launcher doesn't. This is going on for a while now.
I can't find a reference to me owning minecraft in the new site, though I absolutely do and the old launcher seems to know this. Could it be a problem related to the migration from mojang to microsoft?
