I have been having the same problem too. I have change Internet routers and tested the Internet connection, redownloaded thinking its the software. I don't know what else to do. Never had this problem before and now its been months since I have played with my friends. We play with the switch.

As of Version 1.16.2.0 released on October 19th it still has the problem. Tried with different internet connections. And doing everything like logging in and out of the account.

Yes, both nintendo switch have the the online subscriptions. We have tried everything under the moon that could possible fix the problem and nothing works. We haven't been able to play for months.

Went into connectivity status and on minecraft API connection it says ok.
Tried again connecting switch to switch and it still gives me the same message.
Version 1.17.0.0 still has the same problem between 2 Nintendo switch.
