Mobs are invincible after killing the player (only after being summoned with /summon command). I am not sure if it is with singleplayer only and/or with mac only. Re-loging fixes this. Happens with zombies 75% of the time and almost always with skeleton.
Same with me. colours only show up if i stand directly infront of the sign.
