Marc-André, that's a separate bug, MC-165510.
Initially set to Works as Intended because we thought it was a rare occurence, and hence OK. Turns out it happens quite often, so we're fixing it.
Marc-André, please note that the community wiki does not decide how the game is intended to work.
if you check in f3 it says swamp on every block of the tree
this also happens when behind a painting held by signs
same happens when you try to place water bucket on redstone ore, you can only do it if you shift on the ore
also cant empty water bucket on redstone ore unless your shifting so its probably a bug with the water bucket
with the 3 screenshots i took from the wiki
there is no doubt every portal should spawn with chests

it can be reproduced easier when flying with elytra and going in bed
the lava will actually smelt the 100 items, the issue is that the fire animation that goes down wont go down until the last item
