I was able to fix this, at least for now, by editing my profile and selecting "Use Version: Snapshot 1.9". For some reason it thinks the most recent version isn't 1.9, acting like it's still in snapshot.

Edit your profile and select "Use Version: snapshot 1.9". For some reason it thinks the most recent version isn't 1.9, acting like it's still in snapshot. This will at least get you working until Mojang implements a fix.

Actually I think that Mojang just fixed it, I just reloaded with "latest version" selected and it worked.
Please close this ticket, everything is working now.
For what it's worth everything is back to normal now, no more issues on my end.
