Changed Description:
In the latest snapshot, using a /setblock or /fill command to place either "minecraft:tripwire" or "minecraft:redstone_wire" with blockdata specifying direction will place the block with the block's default direction.
Steps to reproduce:
1. String: /setblock ~ ~ ~ minecraft:tripwire north=true
2. Redstone: /setblock ~ ~ ~ minecraft:redstone_wire north=side
3. Fence: /setblock ~ ~ ~ minecraft:fence north=true

Yes, actually, I was trying out the Mineplex server beforehand. Seems to work fine if I don't join that first.
