In my realm server, we are searching for water monuments and woodland mansions. We acquired two of each maps from a local cartographer and explored *BOTH *the woodland mansion and water monument.
After exploring them, we found a new cartographer, traded them up to sell the explorer maps, and bought the maps. They reveal the same maps from the previous cartographer, however their maps are unexplored.
If we buy a map from the first cartographer, we get the same map with the areas where we have been revealed on the map. Buying a may from a second cartographer reveals the same map, but completely unexplored.
This can be seen in the provided screenshots of a local woodland mansion and water monument. One map shows a partially explored map proving that we have been to the location. The other map shows the same location, unexplored, bought from a cartographer after exploring the first map.

This just happened to me on xbox. I was one shot by a blaze with full enchanted diamond armor with a totem which was consumed. Those items took me weeks to get. I took a video of it but it's too large to put on here. I'd like this to get fixed ASAP.

Edit: I was able to recreate this in creative mode using the same world seed. As can be seen in the screenshots, despite having visited the woodland mansion and travelling 16000+ meters, I'm still getting the same map from cartographers.
In survival mode, I received maps from 5 different cartographers in three different villages and received the same maps. In creative mode, every cartographer I spawned sold the same maps.
