Clouds have a ton of issues. Most of these have been on the JIRA at some point. A few are closed. Clouds as a whole are obviously still broken unless they are intended to be ugly as all hell and not work hardly at all when handled with resource packs.
For starters, completely opaque when seen from the bottom. This has been covored and the mods here decided that it's intended to be that way because it was designed before the sky limit was raised. That suggests that there is a general incompatibility with the design of clouds and the design of the minecraft world, and that should be seen as a bug in and of itself.
Second, this causes another issue where cloud designs with a nice gradient translucency look pretty decent from the top, but have an abrupt drop off when seen from the bottom. This issue doesn't really require there to be structure above the cloud line, it's ugly either way. I really doubt someone put effort into making the clouds deal well with translucency only to let it fall apart when viewed from the side you are on 99% of play time.
Nice smooth translucency: http://i.imgur.com/fvSINqE.png
Same texture crapping out when seen from below: http://i.imgur.com/UqSERJQ.pngNext, we have the problem where the "walls" of the clouds don't come together perfectly, and that's covered. What's not covered is that when you apply a resource pack with a translucent texture for clouds, that gap gets even weirder as seen above. Cloud "walls" intersect eachother, edges resting meters apart and not even lining up with the edge of the texture according to the break noted above. This causes the most bizarre looking jagged edges to appear.
Finally, frame rates drop when clouds are in view. That's stupid. Basically this on top of the other issues mean most players just turn clouds off. If you think that's an acceptable solution then perhaps clouds should just be cut from future versions of minecraft.
Completely non-modded minecraft on windows 10 using resource packs.

For instance, say I give myself one emerald and place it in a chest.
/give VergilPrime 388 1
then I give myself another emerald with an ID of 1
/give VergilPrime 388 1 1
If I shift click the 388:1 into the chest, or the 388 into my inventory, they will become either a stack of two 388 or a stack of 2 388:1.
If have both in my inventory and throw one on the ground, then pick it back up, it will stack with the other and lose its data as well.
http://youtu.be/nZyp5YEmM88 <<< This should make it more clear.
The problem doesn't occur when using the give command, the items stack over eachother when:
A. You have 388 in your inventory, then pick up 388:1 off the ground, or
B. You have 388 in your inventory, and shift click 388:1 out of a chest.
or vice-versa.
The glass block is not transparent and does not accept semi-transparent pixels. This makes glass appear ugly. Voting this up to get glass changed to a transparent block.
Not occurring for me.
I don't see this bug in 1.7.2
Only while in hand. Has to due with the player entity not being marked as translucent.
Confirmed in 1.7.2
Still effects 1.7.2
Problem is still present in Minecraft 1.7.2
They display correctly from above, just not underneath.
I have a video I can upload of this occuring.
The Hud, my hand and any contextual menus are still fine.
So far this has been triggered by TNT detonating, water being placed, and occasionally just flying around in creative. Resetting the texture pack and dinking with video settings do not cause the screen to come back to life. Only placing a torch seems to, so this appears to be a bug in the lighting engine.
I do have night vision applied and for an extended period of time, I'm not sure if that is related.
http://youtu.be/WsJzDp5Xmx4 The bug doesn't seem to occur without the potion in effect. I used "/effect VergilPrime 16 9999 1"
Yes I know, and it's unfortunate this never got fixed while it was relevant. I suppose resource packs, display names and lore can all be used to the same effect though.
I can confirm that this is happening on non modded 1.7.9, 1.7.10 and 14w29b with 3gb dedicated to the Minecraft instance.
This is on Windows 8.1 professional JRE7.
Happened 3 times in a row to me.
Confirmed on 1.8.1 Prerelease 3.
I am putting these in one bug report because they are all the same problem. The code for clouds is fundamentally poor design and quality compared with the rest of the game. Reworking this code would likely solve all issues at once.
As I commented, these are all in one post because they are all one issue. This issue is old as dirt but it's not receiving any attention from Mojang because it's been effectively stomped out in every ticket made. For some reason mods have decided that older versions of this ticket are invalid because they think that clouds are just terrible and broken by design.
Kumasasa looks like I mixed up tickets, I thought
MC-997was invalid for the reason listed onMC-386and got angry and made this issue.Cool thanks
Affects 1.9.
