regression: scroll wheel tilt buttons no longer register as 6 and 7
In versions up through 1.12.2, tilting my scroll wheel left and right would count as buttons 6 and 7 under the options for controls. I would make heavy use of this to switch to slots 2 and 8 in my hotbar.
Since version 1.13, tilting the scroll wheel on my mouse no longer registers as an input in the Minecraft controls setting. Nothing happens. I am still able to map buttons 1-5, but not 6 and 7.
Environment
Produced on Linux 5.2.9 with each of OpenJDK versions 8, 10, and 12.
Applies to Minecraft versions 1.13 through 1.14.4.

I suspect this is an issue with LWJGL 3 as 1.13 is when they upgraded the libraries from 3.1.2 to 3.1.6. Likely only affects Linux.
@cubethethird thanks for the info! Do you think it's possible to preload different versions of LWJGL into Minecraft and bisect to find the offending commit?
You might be able to accomplish that by using a 3rd party launcher like MultiMC, but that goes beyond what Mojang supports. If anything I'd recommend you browse the reported issues on the github for LWJGL, or file a report yourself.
Which model of mouse is this and does software exist (official or unofficial) for rebinding button/input functionality? I don't have a mouse with a tilting wheel, but setting buttons to 6 and 7 using piper does have these inputs recognised correctly.
