Breaking blocks in certain places causes momentary freeze

Aside from the already reported issue about the breaking animation following the player's cursor - every time a block is broken I'm getting a pretty serious freeze. This doesn't happen in all chunks though.
It's client-side lag, but I feel I should mention I'm playing using the 19w39a dedicated server too (unmodified) hosted on a separate machine (i.e. anything the server is doing shouldn't be affecting my game client's framerate).
Environment
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K
RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
SSD: Samsung Evo 970 Plus
JVM: Bundled (1.8.0_51), default arguments
OS: Windows 10 1809 (17763.737)

Please check if that's still an issue for you in 19w45a.
Hey [Mod] Michael Wobst, I can no longer reproduce this issue. Though unfortunately I don't have the same world, I've tested this in a few different chunks in similar circumstances and it's been totally fine.
E: Apologies, look like me responding has re-opened this issue!
