Choosing of resource packs are very buggy.
When you first start up 13w24b, it has no resource packs, and starts with the default. once you use the nifty download from [mojang.com] webpage, it translates all your texture packs into resource packs; However the selection on these resource packs is extremely buggy. it starts out selecting default, and show default when you play, but once you pick a resource pack, in the UI it will continue to show that you have default selected, however, once you start playing again, it displays the resource pack. if you happen to want to switch back to default, since it displays that you are using it, it wont properly load therefore making it impossible to go back to default without switching snapshots.

This was my first bug report, so give me a break on all the edits
I can see this behaviour only with broken resouce packs. See what's written in the development console of the launcher when switching resource packs.
Confirmed.
It is very apparent when trying to switch while in a world. When I want to switch back to default or switch to a different resourse pack, I have to return to title first then double click a new or the default resourse pack and give it a minute. then I can load my world back up and the resourse pack will have changed. If I try in the world it either does nothing or certain items textures become a seriese of lines (looks like the certain levels of the textures, like the 5, 8 and 12 pixel row stretched to a full block width).
Is this still an issue in the current snapshot ?
Not as Far as I can tell.. I can now switch between resourse packs while in levels. Don't know about the topic originator
Fixed.
