Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Yes, your problem is not solved, but it's recorded that this bug also occurs for Minecraft 1.4.5.
But this bug tracker isn't made for solving problems, it's for tracking bugs !
