MC-2113Slimes can jump out of void
Large slime cubes are able to jump out of the void and cannot die this way. Also, if they are partially stuck in a block but there is air directly above it, they will be able to jump out of it and suffocate. I'm not sure if this is a bug but it is worth bringing up.

I just checked, and yes. I've updated the version.
How exactly does one reproduce this?
Creative mode, on super flat mode. Destroy dirt blocks and bedrock to expose the void. Get a slime spawn egg or wait for a slime to come, and let it fall in the void. It will usually jump out.
