Duplicate of MC-142883 which was later resolved as "Works As Intended".
Can confirm, the player spawns in a deep cold ocean with no land anywhere nearby (12 chunks).
Although this has been marked as works as intended, I'd still like if this was fixed or somehow tweaked.
