OSX scroll wheel behavior
Using the scroll wheel on osx as an inventory selector results in inventory selection whipping around wildly, given the nature of "magic mouse" & touchpad mice, it's just kind of bad all around.
Not sure if there's a "fix" possible, though disabling the mouse binding for inventory selection might be good enough.
As it is, scroll wheel inventory selection on osx is unusable.

Still a concern in 14w29a/b.
An option to disable mouse scrolling or assign keys to prev/next item would be greatly appreciated.
PS: This has been reported several times in the past (e.g. MC-4657, MC-31061 an more) and has sometimes been closed as a feature request.
To the affected users the way too sensitive scrolling behavior in Minecraft is a bug, as other applications and games (e.g. Kerbal Space Program) behave just fine when scrolling using a Magic Mouse.
OS X has an option to select which direction scrolling should apply for the touchpad, after ~5 years of touch screen use, natural feels better.
However this also changes the scroll direction for mouse wheels on actual mice.
I have tried to use ScrollReverser https://pilotmoon.com/scrollreverser/ which should restore the mouse behaviour but this is ignored by Minecraft’s input system.
If the game added this in options, to simply swap up/down on scroll, I would hug all.
(this is not MC-4657 as that is related to scroll acceleration)
Turn off the "Scroll with Inertia" option.
That will fix it.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
I don't see a scroll with inertia option in minecraft 1.4.7.
In any event, yes, it's still a concern.
This is also true for any trackpad or mouse with touch scrolling or mouse wheels that don't click while scrolling. The user can't predict how far to scroll using touch input, while a clicking mouse wheel makes this easier.
Scroll with Inertia in System Preferences, under Mouse/Trackpad

No answer on querry, assuming no longer an issue.
