MC-64217Entities and Blocks not updating/reloading correctly
Quite frequently, upon leaving an area and then returning, entities and blocks (most visible with chests and the Enchanting Table) fail to resume their state properly/update the rendering engine... or something.
The visual effect of this is quite bizarre: chests, when opened, seem to open correctly (the GUI displays and functions just fine), but a second chest model is in the same place as the working model and does not open. In other words, the appearance of the lid opening is working, but a second chest is visually apparent with its lid closed, within the other chest.
The Enchanting Table makes this somewhat more obvious – the floating book animation that normally displays above the table when the player is out of its range (closed book slowly rotating) becomes "stuck" and stutters between one or two frames of the animation... while a second book model that functions as normal remains rotating as it ought to be.
In addition, both of the above can occur multiple times, though it is only noticeable with the enchanting table, resulting in three or more of the visual models clipping into each other, remaining frozen. This can cause extreme lag when large numbers of chests are in one place; 10-12 chests are sufficient to cause significant lag. The duplicate models disappear upon quitting to the main menu and reopening the save file.
I suspect, though am not certain, that it is related to another glitch whereby after digging or placing a block, sometimes the newly destroyed or placed block does not update the rendering engine until a block is placed or destroyed adjacent to it.
I'll update with screenshots to make it clearer once I can trigger it again.

This seems related to my doors only having half of the door shown as open but the hotbox is open. i don't have a screen-grab of the second part but i destroyed a chest but the image of it didn't disappear until i reloaded the world (the bock was gone and i had the chest in my inventory but it sill looked like it was there)
I can't say I've seen that particular one, but yes, it does cause some odd behaviour. I've noticed you can occasionally open fence gates... and they'll still appear closed until you toggle the closed and open again.
If you look closely, you can see the block outline highlighted even though no block exists there – the block's physics are intact (i.e., it can be walked on and interacted with), however the block's appearance does not show until another block is placed nearby.
Sounds like gates are behaving the same as the bottom half of the door
For me it happens when I begin to record a video with dxtory, as soon as I stop the record, water is updating and ghost blocks appears/disappears.
I've had no issues with water updating, though sometimes the game will not register entities' behaviour correctly.

MC-62166Looks like it's similar, at the very least; a whole host of others listed as duplicates for that one cover most of this one's symptoms, too... but not one seems to cover the 'overlapping models' thing I've been seeing with chests and enchanting tables.
Confirmed on 14w31a. i seen a slight lag on block updates during placing and breaking but not like before...at least so far.
