The colors of the pixels of in-game maps have changed in 1.8.1-pre. This change is not listed in the changelog. It is not clear if this change is intended or is a bug.

Looks to be intended, Grum had planned on fixing map colours for some blocks for a while:

Thanks for the quick reply. It isn't yet clear to me if there's just a new remapping, or if they have added more colors or how exactly the new coloring works, but I'll try to go figure it out now I guess.
