MC-739No sounds work
I was updating to 1.4.2 when all sounds stopped to work. ALL SOUNDS is now a glitched out version of the new grass sound.
This makes it impossible for me to play minecraft as usual.
How to reproduce:
1. Buy an about five years old version of Apple's Power mac G5. Note: I dont have any other issues with my computer of any kind.
2. Run mac osx Leopard and the old minecraft launcher (I cant update to the new one with the demo button because the computer says "Det här programmet har inte stöd för den här arkitekturen" wich means "This program doesn't have support for this architecture").
3. Just open minecraft up and be terrified by the glitched sounds.
Note: I don't have an Intel prosessor. I have a double-core 1.5 GHz power mac prosessor.

It's very clear this is something specific to your hardware. If your 5 year old computer can't support some of Minecraft's parts, you shouldn't run Minecraft on it.
This is probably because of little/big-endianess of the CPU. We don't plan to fix this, but it's possible we accidentally fix it one day...
