mob kills due to knock back from a sweep attack fail to reward EXP
Expectation: Knocking a group of skeletons into lava using the sweep attack should reward EXP for the entire group.
Result: EXP was rewarded only for the skeleton directly hit (I.E. damaged) by the sword.
To Reproduce: Gather a group of skeletons in a 1x1 hole with lava suspended above their heads. Using a sweep attack on the skeletons will knock them all into the lava, killing them, but only reward EXP for the skeleton damaged by the attack.

OSX 10.11

It may not be intended since you didn't actually damage them.
(I wonder if a fixed 0.5 damage amount for swept enemies would be alright balance-wise.)
First I fixed it as you suggested (0.5 points of damage), but it was really fun so I bumped it to half a heart instead (1 point of damage)
Hah, that's going to make my Zombie-Pigman XP farm much more interesting. With a bunch of damaged pigman packed into one spot, an attack will 1-hit kill only one of them, but damage the rest. I expect that the new damaging sweep attack will cause other pigmen in the area to agro.
