Strange, same thing happens to signs, probably also to banners, enchant tables, etc; because of special render.
does it only happen to some blocks, or all blocks?
I tested and it happens only for some. Currently all that I found: Bed, Sign, Banner.
I see it happen on a lot of wood based blocks. Logs, planks, crafting table, chest.
