After a recent Launcher update, Minecraft (Java) stopped detecting high-performance Nvidia GPU on Laptop
sorry my english is not very good.
This issue appeared recently. After a recent Launcher update, on my laptop Minecraft (Java) started to run on the integrated Intel HD graphics and not on the high-performance Nvidia processor. Minecraft (Java) stopped detecting high-performance Nvidia GPU on laptop. Even if i choose for Minecraft "High-performance Nvidia processor" in the Nvidia Control Panel the game stil using(run) "Integrated Intel graphics".
I found a solution how to make the game using High-performance Nvidia processor, 2 Steps:
step 1: choose for Minecraft Launcher "High-performance Nvidia processor" in the Nvidia Control Panel. Note: even when I do this, the game still runs on integrated Intel HD graphics, and only the 2nd step helps.
step 2: right click on the Minecraft Launcher shortcut on the desktop and then choose "Run with graphics processor" -> and then click left mouse "High-performance Nvidia processor"
And now I have to do (only 2nd step) every time I start a game to force Minecraft using "High-performance Nvidia processor"
And now this is the only way how can I force the game to run on a High-performance Nvidia processor.
PLEASE FIX THIS!!!
Environment
I'm on the latest 1.16.5 stable, clean version of Minecraft.
Laptop: Windows 8.1 x64; GPU: Nvidia GTX 765M; CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-4200M

To developers:
I can follow this issue and inform you after next one or few updates whether this issue is fixed or not (from your side). I'm again change "javaw.exe": from "High-performance NVIDIA processor" to "use global setting (Auto-select: NVIDIA GPU)" in the NV control panel and do a test.

You may be able to convince the NVidia driver to work correctly if you make the `javaw.exe` shipped by the launcher run with "High-performance Nvidia processor" in NVidia control panel.
The full path to the executable is:
Unless you changed the installation path.
Note that this is a workaround, please keep the issue open.
Yes yes, I remember (after updated launcher) that I got a one crash at the first launch of Minecraft and Windows created a crash report in the Windows Reliability Monitor:
Java(TM) Platform SE binary - stopped working. C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft Launcher\runtime\jre-legacy\windows-x64\jre-legacy\bin\javaw.exe
And thanks, fixed for me by manually changing for "javaw.exe"-> from "use global setting (Auto-select: NVIDIA GPU)" to "High-performance NVIDIA processor" in the NV control panel, plus now I know where the executable of Minecraft "javaw.exe" is located.
Hi there!
Does the issue still occur on the newest version of the Launcher?
