When i started Minecraft today, it said "Choose your username" when i had already chosen it (Marko2155).
Mojang, why did you even disable the API for this anyway? It was a stupid idea to begin with!

Can confirm a few hours ago when setting up my little brother's account (he got java for free by owning bedrock before the java and bedrock bundle was released); it seems to fix itself when the launcher is restarted however
