Switching the key-bindings did not resolve it. Deleting and redownloading the game did not resolve it. The R button works on all other games on the device.

Still an issue. My boy tells me he can't proceed in the game because of this issue so it's pretty serious. Any timelines please... Songbook just cannot be opened using R as instructed on the Nintendo switch. Any workarounds?

I've seen users on kin.naver.com experiencing the same symptoms.
We are having the same issue. I don't know anything about these games, but my son is stuck and says that he can't get past this part of the game because of this issue. Very frustrating to pay for the game and not be able to use it. Any advice?
Is there any workaround here at all? We bought the game over a month ago and we can't play it as it's blocked at this point? Surely someone found a way around this otherwise it would have been fixed as a tier 1 bug - blocking game progress?
We deleted it from the Nintendo Switch and contacted Nintendo support and they refunded us, even though it was past their typical refund period, because it just doesn't seem to be a priority for fixing.
First day playing this game Minecraft legends and R button will not open songbook. Is there any any resolve to this??
I don't understand why there is no official response here. Nobody has voted on this issue so maybe it's not affecting others for some reason? Very frustrating.
Ok everyone. Found a way passed this. Ignore the game instruction to press R to open the songbook. This is incorrect. Instead press down on the right joycon joystick. This will open the songbook and you can continue the game.
Phew. After all that. Such an easy solution. 😂👌
