When clicking the Classic Skins button the game crashes
When I updated to the newest version 1.19.50 I noticed my player skin switched to a default Steve skin, so I went to change it to my custom skin, but when I clicked the Classic Skins button the hanger icon one, it loaded for a few seconds and then crashed. I repeated this a handful of times and it still didn't manage to load in.
Expected Result:
Classic Skins menu loads in.
Actual Result:
Classic Skins menu loads for a few seconds before it crashes.
How to replicate it:
1)Click the Dressing Room button
2)Press the Edit Character button
3) Click the Classic Skins button the hanger icon.
Seeing as how Minecraft players use custom skins fixing this bug could really help a lot of players.

To successfully reproduce this issue, download the attached skinpack linked at the bottom of this comment (also attached it to the report), unzip the file, and add it to your game in FOLDER FORMAT. [It's important that it's added as a folder rather than a .mcpack as the crashing doesn't seem to occur if the pack is in .mcpack format, which may serve as a potential workaround for the issue.] Also make sure you have no other skinpacks added to your game, just the attached. Next, launch your game, open the dressing room, go to an empty character slot and press the Create Character button, then press the Classic Skin button, then Create Classic Skin, and the game will crash. You can also just press the little green hanger icon to the left of the screen.

This issue is in relation to my ticket
MCPE-164838which has been confirmed/successfully reproduced by a moderator/helper, I recommend upvoting the ticket and I will do the same for yours.Esentially, certain custom skinpacks cannot be opened without the game crashing. For your issue I believe it to be the same, 1 or more of your custom skinpacks is causing you to be inable to press the classic skins button without the game crashing. These issues are only for certain custom skinpacks, not all. Therefore, as a temporary work around, try deleting your custom skinpacks 1 by 1 until you are able to successfully press the classic skins button without your game crashing, as 1 or more of them is most likely causing the issue. I've officially managed to successfully reproduce this issue without needing to extract files/turn them into folders, here's how;
1. Download the attached skinpack linked at the bottom of this comment or in the original bug report and add it to your game, you'll need to add it to your skin_packs folder manually because it'll fail to import
2. Launch the game and head to the dressing room
3. Once in the dressing room, create or locate an empty character slot and press the "create character" button
4. Press the "Classic Skin" button, then "Create Classic Skin," and the game will crash
While I managed to find a skinpack that crashes the game even in .mcpack format, skinpacks that are in folder format do seem to be the main cause of the issue and for some reason overwhelm the game.

There's a new way to reproduce this as the previous way seems to have been fixed/no longer working
1. Download the attached zip file (attached to the report), extract it, and add it to your game under Minecraft >> games >> com.mojang
2. Launch the game and head to the dressing room
3. Once in the dressing room, create or locate an empty character slot and press the "create character" button
4. Press the "Classic Skin" button, then "Create Classic Skin," and the game will crash
This issue is now purely down to skinpacks in folder format being the cause, as when these packs are in .mcpack format, I am able press the classic skins button without the game crashing just fine.

I was unable to reproduce this issue on Xbox. It seems that the issue only occurs on Android devices.
It may be only for me but this only happens on PC for me and on Android it's completely fine.

We could not reproduce the issue.
If any of you reading this can effectively reproduce the issue, please check your skin pack list and let us know what these are (along with custom ones, like mentioned in the previous comment), or better yet upload them here, so we can move on with it.
For mine it lodes but when i click the gray button "choose skin" then my game crashes but please fix this issue because i want my skin back and this bug is for 1.19.50

4. Press the "Classic Skin" button, then "Create Classic Skin," and the game will crash
The issue appears to be caused by skinpacks that are in folder format, as when these packs are in .mcpack format, I am able press the classic skins button without the game crashing just fine.
Guys I found the issue, if you have old skin packs or just skin packs you've downloaded, delete them from the game files and then it won't crash!

However, this issue has been closed as Cannot Reproduce.
We were unable to reproduce the problem you are describing in the latest version, even with the additional information provided. However, it does seem that the issue might be with the custom packs that some are using. If that seems likely then you might want to consider removing those or trying a different file format such as the mcpack workaround mentioned in the comments.
