The folder "xal" is not generated even though the changelog says it should generate within external storage
This is a continuation of report MCPE-176675.
In version 1.20.70.20 in the change log it says that folders/directories will now be generated.
While the change was not applied to the "xal" folder.
Analysis
the files and folders that must exist are the following:
| Folders and files in folder com.mojang | 1.19.80 | 1.20.0.21 beta | 1.20.0.22 beta | 1.20.41 | 1.20.70.20 beta |

| development_behavior_packs (folder) | |||||
| development_resource_packs (folder) | |||||

| ud<id>.dat (file) |
I have not added the files from the missing folder because it is understood that if the folder is missing, so are the files. The folder I'm talking about is "xal".
Impact:
The "xal" folder that are no longer generated are very important in the login when external storage is selected.
This problem mainly affects people who decide to reinstall Minecraft, being noticeable from a device that allows saving data files. For example, users who are beta testers and who decide to switch to an official version, lose login in account.
login issue not happening in 1.20.0.21 beta because "xal" is generated in external storage.
Steps to Reproduce:
Part 1, recreate the issue
- Delete all data from your Minecraft bedrock or uninstall and reinstall Minecraft Bedrock (First make a backup copy of all the files that you consider important, such as worlds, templates, etc.)
- Launch minecraft bedrock and select external storage
- Close and reopen minecraft bedrock
- Configure your minecraft however you want, and log in to your account microsoft.
- Close minecraft bedrock
Part 2, Issue verification (Compatible with all Android versions)
- Use USB to connect your Android device to a PC
- Activate file transfer in the pop-up window.
- Open your file explorer on your PC and search for Devices and drives
- Open the option that has the name of your Android device.
- select the option that says shared internal storage

- Check if the folder marked with
in the table exist in /Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang/
Observed Results:
The folder "xal" does not exist in /Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang/.
Expected Results:

the folder if used only that it is not generated in the external storage, that folder is essentially used for login, if it is not there there may be failures in the login.
This can be seen reflected in MCPE-178355
where it is still used in the application storage it is just generated in the wrong location

The folder "xal"Itis not generated even though the changelog saysyesgeneratedwithin external storageThe folder "xal" is not generated even though the changelog says it should generate within external storage
Previously when using application storage the "xal" folder was generated in "/data/user/0/com.mojang.minecraftpe/games/com.mojang/"
Analysis
Comparison video table between versions
| minecraft application storage | 1.20.30.21 beta.mp4 |
1.20.30.22 beta.mp4 |
|---|---|---|
| Exists in the correct location |
As shown in the comparison table, it is noted that this did not occur in 1.20.30.21 beta while it did in 1.20.30.22 beta. And this is never seen in the change log.
Steps to Reproduce:
Part 1, recreate the issue
- Enter in minecraft bedrock
- select application storage in settings > storage > file storage location > "Application" (currently it doesn't matter which storage is selected due to
MCPE-178354, I still recommend following this step since this report focuses on application storage) - be signed in to your account microsoft
- Close minecraft bedrock
Part 2, Issue verification
- have the device rooted and use a file explorer and allow root access
- check if the folder is found in the corresponding location "/data/user/0/com.mojang.minecraftpe/games/com.mojang/"
Expected result:
the "xal" folder is located in "/data/user/0/com.mojang.minecraftpe/games/com.mojang/" when using application storage.
Observed Results:
the "xal" folder is located in "/data/user/0/com.mojang.minecraftpe/" when using application storage.
for people who are interested in following the new report MCPE-178354 where it talks about the "xal" folder not being generated even though feedback says "directories"
If you would like to add a vote and any extra information to the main ticket it would be appreciated.

Maybe the “xal” folder is no longer used? Does this issue affect how the game runs?
The folder if used, alone is not generated on external storage, that folder is essentially used for login, if it is not there there may be login failures.
Also, In the change log it says that certain directories will now be generated, it says it in plural, but in reality now only one directory is generated and it is "minecraftpe", but "xal" is not generated yet.Although in the change log he says.
This can be seen reflected in MCPE-178355
where it is still used in the application storage it is just generated in the wrong location
