"Growing oak trees with bone meal" the wood doesn't grow past the first layer of leaves. Small oak trees only give 1 oak wood.
UPDATE: Except extra large trees.

Confirmed. (Doesn't appear to affect trees allowed to grow from saplings without the use if bonemeal)
Definitely also affects Dark Oaks, but I'm sure we've already established that!! Still not sure why using the word 'stunted' was not understandable enough? Oh well...
Fixed in 1.2.0.22
