Have you tried checking your permission level to make sure it is set correctly also?
Yea its on moderator I don't want to switch it so I deactivate achievements, all I changed was from survival mode - adventure mode - survival mode.
If I change it from moderator to operator it will deactivate me getting achievements
I'm still have trouble placing blocks and destroying blocks in survival mode... I'm as a member in my own world so I'm not going to switch to operator because that will disable myself or anyone joining my world from gaining achievements
I was able to reproduce the problem and find a workaround, so I have removed the awaiting-confirmation label.
First, let's see if we can get you back into Survival mode. Be sure to follow these instructions carefully; do not take any shortcuts.
It's hard to say whether this is a bug or just how it's intended to work. I think the problem is that there are two ways to launch the world: its button on the Play menu and the Play button on the game Settings menu. But there are also two ways to display the Settings menu: From the "pencil icon" button on the Play menu and from the in-game "pause menu". There's an important difference in the latter case: If you enter Settings from the Play menu, you're not already joined to the world, but if you enter via the in-game menu you are. When you're not joined, the Default Game Mode should affect you (at least sometimes), but if you are already joined it shouldn't. Maybe the game isn't properly keeping track of which way you entered, so if you click Play on the Settings menu it always acts like you're already joined and doesn't change your Personal Game Mode.
I haven't mentioned Personal Game Mode before. That's what actually determines what mode you're playing in; Default Game Mode is just used as the initial setting for your Personal Game Mode when you join a world. But only sometimes, because it also depends on whether you're hosting the game and on what mode you were playing the last time you saved the world. It's very complicated, which is why it's hard to say whether this is a bug or just an unintuitive design in this special case.
There's one more complicating factor too: Personal Game Mode is actually shown and can be changed in the game Settings menu, but only if the player has Operator permissions. Since Operator permissions requires cheats and you don't want to turn on cheats and disable earning achievements, you don't have any way of setting your Personal Game Mode directly. That means you have to rely on the game's logic for when it sets your Personal Game Mode to the default mode. But as we just saw above, that doesn't happen if you use the Play button on the Settings menu. (It also doesn't happen in certain other cases, such as if your Personal Game Mode is Creative already. Like I said, it's complicated.)
For the developer, steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new world, setting the Default Game Mode to Adventure.
2. Join the world and verify that you cannot break blocks.
3. Quit the world.
4. Enter the Settings menu and change the Default Game Mode to Survival.
5. Click the Play button on the Settings menu. (Do not exit to the Play menu first.)
6. Observe that you are still in Adventure mode.
I think I can see the issue here, the player's gamemode does not get updated by changing the default gamemode 'in-game', and can result in it being out of sync.
To get you back into the correct gamemode, you need to follow the steps above from @[MCPE Mod] Auldrick:
Closing the ticket as fixed, as it seems like the issue with getting stuck in Adventure mode is no longer possible.
