Everytime I try and sign into Xbox live, the game freezes and crashes eventually. Hopefully it's not my computer causing this. I doubt it is. Please fix this Mojang. As much as I like Steve, that's not my gamertag.

I have a similar problem, but in 1.7.0 on android. It is impossible for me to connect to Xbox Live, in addition, previously I had been disabled the option to play on Realms or servers due to an incompatible configuration of Xbox.
Have you tried a full reinstall of the game?
Backup any data you don't want to lose, then try the following:
Sometimes a clean install of the game will help with these kind of issues.
