MCPE-79585Resistence 5 makes mobs immortal
This is a bug that has been in the game for a long time (approximately since version 1.13.0-beta 4). It is a bug in which a mob becomes immortal when it receives resistance level 5 and higher through the / effect command. The only ways to kill this mob are: or using the / kill command on it; either waiting for the resistance effect to end or using a command to remove it and then kill it.

thats exacly what resistance is supposed to do... make any mob and player more resistant up to "immortal" with every level increase. try giving yourself strength 5 or higher or do the /effect @e[type:!player] clear
Yiannis Siakaris, I understand but if you put the resistance effect level 5 or higher on a mob it is already immortal. I did the test putting on myself the maximum level strength effect (255) and I put on a level 5 resistance pig and I attacked it several times but it didn't die, it only dies after you use the / kill command or use the / effect clear and then kill it
Strength 255 is non-functional, see
MCPE-20469. You can't damage mobs at all with strength that high, probably because the damage values overflow the memory allocated to store them.I think resistance reduces damage by 20% * level, so resistance 5 would reduce damage by 100%. Could you explain why you think that's a bug or what impact it has on the game?
How does this command / effect work in Java?
