MCPE-88613Zombies and ALL zombie variants pick up almost any items.
On Minecraft I noticed that zombies and zombie variants can pick up almost ANY items. Here are some of the items I know they can pick up:
- Pickaxes
- Eggs
- Sticks
- Axes
- Hoes
- Saplings
- String
- Lanterns
- Rotten flesh
- Gunpowder
- Various different blocks
- Slimeballs
This only started to happen after the Nether Update. This might be intended, but I do not know. I will try to reproduce this in 1.16.40 and 1.16.50.

ok so i was on a creative super flat world i had an iron golem it killed the slimes then a zomie villager came along and picked it up this happened as soon as the nther update came out

This is the same bug as MCPE-88613.
This is expected behaviour; a certain % of zombies pickup items, which increases with difficulty

However, this issue is Working as Intended.
The report you have submitted is working as intended. As stated in the 1.16.0 release changelog "Mobs now pick up items and equip armor."
Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.
